MP4 is a practical starting point for a short moving moment.
MP4 is one of the most common video containers. It is widely used for videos shared between phones, clips exported from editing apps, screen recordings, and files moved through Files or cloud storage. When you already have an MP4, you do not need to change it into a different input type before choosing the exact moment you want to keep.

A shorter source is easier to review, easier to move through Files, and easier to pair with a deliberate cover frame in the app. Start with a well-lit clip, avoid cutting into the action too late, and leave a little room before and after the movement.
The web tool does not claim to create the final Apple Live Photo by itself. That is the reason for the handoff: the browser can make the selected MP4 locally, while All To Live can perform the iPhone-native photo-library step.

Play the selected range once from the beginning before you download it. The best short clips usually have one readable action rather than several competing movements. If the first frame is already blurry or the last frame cuts off a gesture, move the start point by a fraction of a second and check it again. The original MP4 stays untouched, so a second local trim does not overwrite your source.
